• The Department of Pediatrics is located in Maternity & Child Care Hospital Anantnag (MCCH) – an Associated Hospital of Govt. Medical College, Anantnag. • The Department is running 24×7 Pediatric and Neonatal services, catering many districts of South Kashmir including Anantnag, Kulgam, Shopian, Pulwama and Pir Panjal area (Banihal, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar). • The Department offers emergency care to infants through 12 bedded specialized Special New-born Care Unit (SNCU) which is in process of being upgraded to Level 3 Neonatal ICU. Pediatric Ward in the Department consists of 14 General Beds out of which four (4) beds are dedicated as High Dependency Unit (HDU) where care is provided to children in want of more intensive monitoring. • Additionally, Out-patient services, Lab services, patient education/ Counselling and other supplementary services are being provided. Our approximate daily OPD is 600-800 patients and 200-250 during night hours. • The Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) aided by the National Health Mission (NHM) provides nutritional guidance and diet charts to children suffering Acute Malnutrition. • The District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) having a patient referral base from all Medical blocks of Anantnag, provides consultations and free of cost medicines for Neurological Chronic Diseases to registered patients.

Our motto is to make this Department up to the mark by developing and imparting a high standard pattern of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education / training with the objective of bringing out quality and efficiency. The Department aims to provide best and state of art medical care to the Pediatric population of South Kashmir and adjacent regions including Pir Panjal. And to bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of the personnel in all important branches of the health activity.
